Community Service

Giving Back is Part of Who We Are

Community service isn’t something extra here, it’s a meaningful and reflective way students live out what it means to be a Warrior. Service teaches responsibility, builds character, and connects Warriors to something larger than themselves. From tutoring peers to supporting local nonprofits or lending a hand on campus, GTCHS students learn to lead by stepping up and serving others where they’re needed most.

Each year, students and families collectively contribute thousands of service hours across the Upstate.

Student Service Expectations

To graduate from GTCHS and participate in extracurricular activities, each student must complete a minimum of 50 hours of community service per year.

Highlights:

  • At least 10 of those hours must be completed on campus.
  • Hours can roll over to the next academic year, but only one year forward.
  • Incoming 9th graders and new students may begin logging hours starting June 1 before their first year.
  • Final service hour logs are due by the third Friday in May.
  • Students are responsible for tracking hours on the official GTCHS Community Service Hour Log Sheet.
  • All hours must be verified with a signature at the time of service.
  • Failure to meet this requirement will result in ineligibility to walk at graduation.

Service Through Advisory

Each advisory group participates in a community project throughout the year. These service-based experiences help students earn hours while collaborating and giving back together.
