College and Career

College & Career

At GTCHS, career exploration isn’t an afterthought. It’s a core part of the student experience from the very beginning. Our Career Pathways model ensures that every student graduates with a strong academic foundation and the skills, experiences, and clarity to succeed in college and the global workforce.

Starting in 9th grade, students work closely with their advisors and counselors to develop an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) that aligns with their goals and passions. Students develop both a plan and a professional mindset through structured experiences each year, including career assessments, job shadowing, industry tours, and dual enrollment courses aligned with their career interests.

By the time they graduate, GTCHS students have:

  • Explored a broad range of career clusters through coursework, field experiences, and guest speakers
  • Completed a senior project or participated in an internship, each guided by a mentor in their chosen field and aligned with their academic interests
  • Earned college credits in fields aligned with their career goals
  • Completed a Senior Project that integrates academic mastery with employability skills (often in partnership with local businesses and community leaders)

This intentional approach prepares students to be both college-ready and career-capable, with 21st-century skills that include problem-solving, collaboration, financial literacy, self-advocacy, and leadership.
